D-1: arrival in Kathmandu and transfert to hotel.
D-2: visit of Kathmandu: Durbar Square and its bazar, temples, Royal Palace, the goddess Kumaris home.
Afternoon: visit of the Buddhist Stupa of Swayambunath, one of the oldest religious sites of Nepal, worshipped by both Buddhists and Hindus.
Visit of Pashupatinath, the Benares of Nepal, dedicated to the God Shiva on the Bagmati River and visit of Bouddhanath and its famous Stupa, one of the biggest in southern Asia.
D-3: KTM-Pokhara by bus (6h)
D-4: Pokhara-Naya Pool by bus, walk to Tirkedunga (1577 m): 4h
We follow the valley until the village of Hile (1500 m). From Hile we start the long ascent to the ridge of Ghorepani we will make in 2 days. Overnight in Tirkedunga (1577 m)
D-5: Tirkedunga-Ghorepani (2900 m): 6h
Its a long ascent to Ghorepani, the path climbs upward the village through beautiful rhododendrons and pines forest. Ghorepani is located on a ridge with few lodges.
D-6: ascent to Poon Hill (3193m): 1h30, descent to Tatopani (1360 m): 6h
Early morning ascent to Poon Hill for a magnificent sunrise over Dhaulagiri, Annapurna himal, Macchapuchare
Then we descend through terrace hills and cultivated areas, many Takali villages, orange trees, nice views of the Dhaulagiri south wall.
Tatopani is famous for its hot spring.
D-7: Tatopani-Kalopani (2560 m): 6h
We follow the gorges of the Kali Gandaki River, the deepest in the world, many up and down during the day. Nice views of the Annapurna west face (8091 m) and Nilgiri peaks.
D-8: Kalopani-Marpha (2800 m): 6h
Just after Kalopani we enter the wide, dry and flat plain of Jomson between the Annapurna range and Dhaulagiri.
Marpha is a charmant village surrounded by cultivated fields.
D-9: Marpha-Kagbeni (2810 m): 5h
The route continues in the plain of Jomson. Kagbeni is the entry gate of Mustang and architecture of the village looks much like Mustang.
D-10: Kagbeni-Muktinath (3700 m): 5h
Landscape is now similar to Mustang: small oasis in a stone desert, colorless rock and sand landscapes. The ascent to Muktinath is very gradual, the panorama is beautiful with Tilicho peak and Nilgiri peaks.
Muktinath is a holy place, many small temples above the village.
D-11: descent to Jomson by the same route: 5h
D-12: flight back to Pokhara: 30min
The flight provides breathtaking views of Himalayan giants like Annapurna 1 and Dhaulagiri.
D-13: drive back to KTM (7h)
D-14: rest day in KTM
D-15: Transfert to airport and return.
