Kathmandu valley and Annapurna balcony

On this circuit you will be taken first on a sight seeing tour in Kathmandu valley : Temples, monuments and old palaces made in artistic way from the 17th century : You will visit the highlights of kathmandu like Durbar Square, Old palace, Pashupatinath, Bouddnath, Swayambunath...Then we will take the tour to patan and bhaktapur which are other ancient cities of Kathmandu valley and famous for their remarkable newari wooden carving. At the end we propose a short and easy trek in the Annapurnas region: On this trek you will enjoy with different himalayan views of Annapurna himal to the east and the Dhaulagiri himal to the west as well as mixed culture of Gurung, Magar and Thakali, the main inhabitants of Kali Gandaki Valley. The trail winds through patchwork valleys and dense mossy forests with glimpse of the high mountains.
Poon Hill will offer you a spectacular sunrise over Himalayas: Annapurna Himal, Dhaulagiri Himal, Macchapuchare…

>GRADE:
-Easy for the trek (grade explanation): the trail is good and accomodations are excellent: you walk 3 to 5 hours a day.

-Altitude max: 3140 m (Poon Hill).

Itinerary

D-1: arrival in Kathmandu and transfert to hotel.

D-2: visit of Kathmandu: Durbar Square and its bazar, temples, Royal Palace, the goddess Kumari’s home.
Afternoon: visit of the Buddhist Stupa of Swayambunath, one of the oldest religious sites of Nepal, worshipped by both Buddhists and Hindus.

D-3: mountain flight early in the morning (1h).
Visit of Pashupatinath, the “Benares of Nepal”, dedicated to the God Shiva on the Bagmati river and visit of Bouddhanath and its famous Stupa, one of the biggest in southern Asia.

D-4: visit of Patan, ancient Malla capital, an important handicraft center 6 km from KTM. Many temples and remarkable Newari architecture. Transfert and night in Bhaktapur.

D-5: visit of Bhaktapur, the most beautiful Newari city, inscribed on the UNESCO’s world heritage site, 13km from Kathmandu. Return to KTM.

D-6: KTM-Sankhu by car (1h) then walk to Nagarkot (2100 m): 3h

D-7: sunrise at Nagarkot: amazing view over the Himalaya. Transfert to Pharping, a major Buddhist site of the valley
Visit of Dakshinkali dedicated to the goddess Kali and return to Kathmandu.

D-8: visit of Kirtipur 6 km from Kathmandu

D-9: KTM-Pokhara by bus (6h)

D-10: Pokhara-Phedi by bus, walk to Potana (1800 m) via Dhampus – 3 to 4h

D-11: Potana-Ghandrung (1940 m)

D-12: Ghandrung-Tadapani (2700 m)

D-13: Tadapani – Ghorepani (2855m)

D-14: ascent to Poon Hill (3193 m) early in the morning. Sunrise over the Himalayas; descent to Birethanti (1100 m)

D-15: Birethanti-Nayapool, return to Pokhara by bus

D-16: return to Kathmandu by bus

D-17: day rest

D-18: transfert to airport and return

Our Price Includes

  3. - nepali visa (40 $ or equivalent foreign currency, passeport must be valid 6 months after your return)
